Overview
Daily Text is an iOS app that fetches and displays the daily Bible text from the Watchtower Online Library (wol.jw.org). This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data — or more accurately, how it doesn't.
This policy applies to the Daily Text iOS app and its home screen widget, developed by Frederick Dupré.
Data We Do Not Collect
Daily Text does not collect, transmit, or share:
- Your name, email address, or any identifying information
- Your location
- Usage analytics or crash reports
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Any content you type or read within the app
There are no user accounts. No sign-in is required.
Network Requests
The app makes outbound network requests solely to retrieve the daily text content from wol.jw.org. These requests contain no personal information — only the date and language you have selected.
Daily Text is not affiliated with or endorsed by Jehovah's Witnesses or the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania.
Data Stored on Your Device
The following preferences are saved locally on your device only:
- Language selection — stored in a shared app container so the widget can read it
- Notification preferences — whether daily reminders are enabled and at what time
- Onboarding status — whether you have completed the first-launch onboarding
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.
Notifications
If you enable daily reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device. These notifications are generated entirely on-device by fetching that day's scripture at the time you set. No notification server is involved, and no data is transmitted to schedule them.
Text-to-Speech
The listening mode uses iOS's built-in on-device speech synthesis (AVSpeechSynthesizer). No audio is recorded, transmitted, or stored.
Third-Party Services
Daily Text does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only external service the app communicates with is wol.jw.org to retrieve content.
Children's Privacy
Daily Text does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. As the app collects no personal data whatsoever, it is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
